For this project, I had to design a prototype app that’s primary function was for scheduling. For my app, I focused on gaming, specifically how long a person would want to play his/her game for. Basically, not only does this app connect to an Xbox, PS4 or Steam account(considering that it is PC) to get your playtime records, but the app also compares and adds-up the play times spent on a game whether that specific game was played on at least 2 different softwares. For scheduling, this app is suppose to help players keep track of how much time they would put into a game so that way, the player wouldn’t invest too much time into the game.
For designing this app, I focused on keeping it simple and easy for the viewer to navigate through. I made my homepage navigate to 3 locations; “Xbox One” page, “Add an account to this software” page and “check the pie graph” page. For example, say you already have an account on your Xbox One for instance, you would touch the xbox one icon to take you to the Xbox One page where it shows you a list of games that you have played. Say you would want to check your how many hours you’d played Call of Duty on Sept. 7th, just hit the bar call of duty pic and it takes you to the bar graph showing the number of hours you played on that day. In addition, if you ever want to go to the PS4 page, their an “PS4” icon on the upper right-hand corner to take you there.
When it comes to competition, there really isn’t any. When I was doing research for this specific app, I only found apps that were scheduling sports games. For example;
Game On: http://www.gameonmobile.com/
MSI Gaming App: https://gaming.msi.com/article/msi-gaming-app-article
Designing however, what these two are doing with their app that is so effective was that the navigation was remanded the same, the text boxes were spaced out evenly, and the text was clear to read. Compared to this draft, I need to work on the space, the backgrounds might need a change so that way, they aren’t blending in with the text or the pics and make the pages for this app. In other words, it needs more work on it for the design to be effective and
